Genesis

The three vases represent the story told in the first book of the bible, creation. Their glaze represents the first light that was commanded from the formless void that covered the face of the deep. The oranges of shino peek out from underneath the raised surfaces, dashing across the surface, melding with the deep, satin black. There is not much literature to visually describe the creation of our world, but as God works through my hands, I’ve created a visual story that I believe to be close. The flowers, grown by my mother on my hometown farm, erupt from my vases, proclaiming the next part of the story. Eden, the east garden, where God commanded provisions for man to grow, instructing them to be ‘pleasing to the eye and good for food’. Where the original and perfect state of man existed before the fall.
